Brunel Chateauneuf du Papes Les Cailloux
Brunel Chateauneuf du Papes Les Cailloux
André Brunel is highly respected as a winemaker throughout the Southern Rhone. His family’s estate, Domaine les Cailloux, is named for the large, smooth and rounded stones that make up the vineyard floor in this part of Chateauneuf. The wines of Les Cailloux have become the standard to which others in the appellation are compared.

Super-ripe in the nose with sweet cherry, notes of raspberry jam, hints of stewed fruits and sweet herbs. This wine is deep and chewy with plenty of ripe tannins and layers and layers of seductive fruit. The finish is extremely long and concentrated.

Cloverdale Ranch Merlot
2008 S0NOMA COUNTY HARVEST FAIR “BEST OF CLASS” AWARD WINNER. Merlot from the renowned Pellegrini Family Vineyards. Elegant and restrained, and has really benefitted from 20 months of aging in a combination of American and Hungarian oak barrels. Plump and voluptuous with a long, velvety finish. With a nose of black cherries and allspice that continues right onto the palate, this is a wine with a rich and robust core that should be served with leaner cuts of meat. A great deal of care went into the production of this wine, and we feel it is representative of the best Merlot that Alexander Valley has to to offer.

Font Michelle Chateneuf du Pape
Font Michelle Chateneuf du Pape
The soil of the Font de Michelle estate has long been considered one of the best of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape.The many amphoras and other pottery found on the site can attest to the fact that grapevines have been cultivated and nurtured here since Roman times. From 1866 to 1880, the vines suffered, infested with phylloxera and scrubland replaced the vineyards. In 1950, Etienne Gonnet created Font de Michelle, with 30 hectares of vineyard. Since 1975 his sons Jean and Michel have kept a watchful eye over the estate. Always striving for maximum quality, they produce rich, intense, elegant wines through wihich the soil can express all its subtleties. Michel and Jean work very hard in the vineyards, leaf-pulling and crop-thinning, to keep yields lower than the appellation allows. The hand-harvested fruit is handled with the utmost care, and the winery is completely gravity fed. The wine is bottled unfiltered.

Olivet Lane Estate Chardonnay
Olivet Lane Estate Chardonnay
2008 S0NOMA COUNTY HARVEST FAIR SILVER MEDAL AWARD WINNER. Pellegrini Family Vineyards does it again. This wine is always produced from what Bob Pellegrini feels is the best selection of fruit grown in their Russian River Valley vineyard. Its flavors are rich, yet delicate, with nuances of butterscotch and pineapple in the finish. Fermented in 100% French oak barrels that come mostly from Francois Freres of Saint-Romain in Burgundy. The oak provides the neatly nutty, toasty character of the wine, and does not overwhelm – just as you want a Chardonnay to be: fruit first then oak in the background to show off the fruit a little more. A wine with firm acidity and will continue to develop with bottle age.
